This project involved the preparation of an Integrated Cultural Resources Management Plan for Fort Sam Houston and Camp Bullis Training Site to assist in their compliance with the various cultural resources management laws and regulations. Mr. Salo authored the Cold War historic contexts for the two installations’ reports and assisted in the preparation of various other sections related to laws and regulations of the Integrated Cultural Resources Management Plans.
This project required the develop of public display materials for Fort Sam Houston to illustrate the cultural history of Camp Bullis, a sub-installation of Fort Sam Houston, for post staff and the visiting public. Mr. Salo reviewed the existing historic literature related to Camp Bullis and used that information to develop text for eight signs based on topics suggested by the Fort Sam Houston staff.
This project involved the preparation of Integrated Cultural Resources Management Plans for Lackland, Little Rock, and Randolph Air Force Bases. Mr. Salo authored the historic context for each installation and served as the primary author for preparation of various sections of the Integrated Cultural Resources Management Plan
This project involved conducting cultural resources investigations as part of the an Environmental Assessment and Environmental Baseline Survey for the proposed disposal of the Over the Horizon Backscatter Radar sites in Moscow and Columbia Falls Maine. Mr. Salo researched and authored the historic context related to the history of the radar system. He also inventoried and assessed buildings and structures at the radar sites to determine their potential Cold War-era historic significance.
