This project involved the preparation of a Cultural Resources Management Plan for Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. As part of the contract, Mr. Salo inventoried and assessed all remaining World War II-era and Korean War-era buildings and structures at the base to determine their potential National Register of Historic Places eligibility. This tasked included the photo documentation of all the assessed buildings.
This project entailed an historic investigation into the land use, acquisition, and development of a summer training camp, Camp Buckner, associated with the United States Military Academy in West Point, NY, and an inventory of 117 Camp Buckner buildings and their eligibility for inclusion to the NRHP. Mr. Salo conducted archival research at the Military Academy and local archives related to the history of the camp and the project area before its acquisition by the Military Academy. He then used the data to compose a historical context for the project area focusing on the World War II-era that was used to evaluate the buildings identified.
This project involved documentation of two warehouses that were constructed in 1941 as part of the Fort Worth Quartermaster Depot. Mr. Salo photographed the buildings and created a measured drawing of the buildings.
This project involved the reassessment of all the NRHP eligible buildings and structures at Hill AFB. Mr. Salo reexamined previous studies and made recommendations on the potential National Register of Historic Places eligibility of the resources. This included a World War II ammunition depot and air base; and Cold War-era ballistic missile factory. This tasked included the photo documentation of all the assessed buildings.
